SermonScore helps pastors get honest feedback on their sermons. SermonScore is run by Daniel Riddick. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, who helps us run the service, how long we keep things, and the choices you have. Questions? Email support@sermonscore.ai.
What we collect
What you give us
- Contact details: your first name and email when you start a free review, and your name, email and password when you make an account. Your password is handled by our sign-in provider and is never stored in plain text.
- Church details (optional): church name, size and tradition.
- Your sermons: transcripts you paste, YouTube links you submit, and audio or video files you upload, plus any titles and dates you add.
- Messages: anything you send us.
What we create for you
- Your scores, coaching reports, sermon maps, delivery measurements like pace and length, Film Room clips and notes, practice runs, and your review history.
What we collect automatically
- How you found us: if you arrive from an ad or a link, we keep the tags on that link, the referring page and the page you landed on, so we know which ads and posts actually help pastors find us.
- Usage: pages you visit and how you use features (for example, whether a Film Room clip was played). We use this to make the product better.
- Device and connection: browser type, time zone and IP address, used for security, to stop abuse and for basic analytics.
- Cookies: a sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in, and a short-lived cookie used when you ask us to email you your coaching guide. We don't use advertising cookies.
How we use it
- To run the service: score your sermon, write your coaching report, build your Film Room and show your progress over time.
- To send email: your review link, sign-in links, account and billing notices, our weekly coaching email, and a short series of follow-up emails after you start a free review. Every non-essential email has an unsubscribe link.
- To take payment for paid plans.
- To keep SermonScore secure and prevent abuse.
- To improve SermonScore and see whether features help.
- To measure our advertising (see "Advertising" below).
We don't sell your personal information.
Who helps us run SermonScore
We share information only with providers who process it for us to run the service:
| Provider | What they do |
|---|---|
| Vercel | Hosts the website, stores uploaded recordings, and gives us basic site analytics (no cookies) |
| Supabase | Stores your account and review data and handles sign-in |
| Anthropic | AI analysis that produces your scores, coaching and Film Room notes |
| AssemblyAI | Transcribes uploaded audio and video |
| Supadata | Gets captions for YouTube links you submit |
| Stripe | Processes payments on its own checkout page (we never see or store your full card number) |
| Resend | Sends our emails |
| Meta | Measures our ads (see "Advertising" below) |
| Sentry | Tells us when something breaks; we strip out emails and personal details before reports are sent |
| Serves the fonts our pages use, so your browser connects to Google when a page loads |
Your sermon content goes to our AI provider only to produce your review. Anthropic doesn't use it to train its models by default.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or SermonScore.
Advertising
We use Meta's Conversions API to measure our Facebook and Instagram ads, for example to know when someone who saw an ad started a free review. Our server sends Meta a hashed (scrambled) copy of your email address, your IP address and your browser type, along with the fact that the step happened. We don't put Meta's tracking pixel on our site. You can control ad personalization in your Facebook and Instagram settings.
Recordings, YouTube links and Film Room
- Uploaded recordings: are stored privately and played only through short-lived links. We keep them for 90 days so you can watch your Film Room clips, then delete them automatically. After that your written review, timing and Film Room notes stay, and clips play as read-along text instead of audio or video.
- YouTube links: we don't download or store your video. We keep the link and caption timing, and Film Room plays clips through YouTube's own player. Your video stays on YouTube, under your control.
- Practice runs: the recording is deleted as soon as it's transcribed. The transcript and your practice review stay in your account.
- Free reviews: a free review opens for anyone who has its private link, which we email to you. Don't share that link if you want the review kept private.
How long we keep things
- Your account and reviews: until you delete them or ask us to delete your account.
- Uploaded recordings: 90 days, then deleted automatically. Deleting a review removes it and its recording.
- Sign-up details from people who haven't made an account or bought: we keep these for as long as they're useful to us in running SermonScore and keeping in touch with you, until you ask us to delete them. If you unsubscribe, we stop sending you those emails right away and keep your address on our do-not-email list so it stays that way.
- Security logs: (like IP addresses used to stop abuse) only as long as we need them for security.
- Some records, like payment records, may be kept longer when the law requires it.
Your choices
- Get a copy or delete: email support@sermonscore.ai and we'll send you a copy of your information or delete it, including your account. You can delete single reviews yourself from My Reviews.
- Email: use the unsubscribe link in any non-essential email.
- Fix something: update your details on your account page, or email us.
Church Teams
If you join a Church Team, your team admin can see your reviews and coaching reports. That's how the team plan works. Admins don't see your transcripts.
If you're in the UK or the European Economic Area
- We use your information to provide the service you asked for (contract), to keep SermonScore secure, improve it and measure our ads (our legitimate interests), and where the law requires it, with your consent.
- You can ask to see, correct, delete or move your information, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent. Email support@sermonscore.ai.
- You can also complain to your data protection regulator: the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the UK, or the Data Protection Commission in Ireland.
- SermonScore and its providers are based in the United States, so your information is processed there.
Children
SermonScore is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Security
We use encryption in transit, private storage with short-lived links for recordings, and access controls on our database. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information.
Changes
If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date at the top and, when it matters, let you know by email.
